Chinese school in Armenia to open on September 1

Armenia’s education and science minister Levon Mkrtchyan told president Serzh Sargsyan today that a school with an in-depth learning of the Chinese language will open in Armenia on September 1, 2018.
YEREVAN, February 28. /ARKA/.Armenia’s education and science minister Levon Mkrtchyan told president Serzh Sargsyan today that a school with an in-depth learning of the Chinese language will open in Armenia on September 1, 2018.
The president received the minister to hear what activities the ministry is implementing to increase the effectiveness of teaching foreign languages and improve the quality of education.
The minister said the Chinese side will have invested 83.4 million Yuans ($11 million) in its construction. The school is located on an area of 15 thousand square meters and meets all modern requirements.
The minister also reported to the president that in 2017 the concept of teaching the Russian language at schools was developed. In his words, with the assistance of Great Britain, English language clubs have been established in six communities, involving 400 pupils and about 200 teachers.
He said another ten schools offer in-depth study of the French language. He said according to the decision of the Federal Council for Education and Culture of Germany, starting from 2018, secondary education certificates will become the basis for admission to German universities. -0-
