Construction inspectorate official charged with bribery

G. Hovhannisyan, the head of Ararat territorial department of the state construction inspectorate, Armenia’s ministry of urban planning, is charged with bribery as part of a criminal case.

YEREVAN, March 24. /ARKA/. G. Hovhannisyan, the head of Ararat territorial department of the state construction inspectorate, Armenia’s ministry of urban planning, is charged with bribery as part of a criminal case.
The inquest found out Hovhannisyan abused his official powers and solicited a bribe from broker Zh. Shahbazyan for certain actions within his competence in favor of citizen G. Sahakyan, the Investigative Committee reports.
Two days later, on March 13, Hovhannisyan received the requested amount and was immediately detained in his office by the organized crime control department of Armenia’s police, says the report.
Charges are brought against Hovhannisyan on part I, article 311 (acceptance of a bribe by a public official) of Armenia’s criminal code. –0--
