Construction of Argavand-Shirak road section launched in Yerevan

The construction of Argavand-Shirak road section was launched Wednesday in Yerevan. An appropriate memorandum was signed with Levantina Ingeniería Y Construcción SL (Spain) to launch the construction of the 2.7-kilometer road, the press office of the Yerevan municipality reports.

YEREVAN, September 12. /ARKA/. The construction of Argavand-Shirak road section was launched Wednesday in Yerevan. An appropriate memorandum was signed with Levantina Ingeniería Y Construcción SL (Spain) to launch the construction of the 2.7-kilometer road, the press office of the Yerevan municipality reports.     

According to the report, one copy of the signed memorandum was laid in the road's basement.
Detail of the program were presented to Armenian Vice-premier Tigran Avinyan and Yerevan Mayor Hayk Marutyan.

The new road, which will be built in two tranches under the sustainable urban development investment program of the Asian Development Bank, will have four to six lanes, 24 to 28 meters across. A 252-meter bridge on Hrazdan River is planned to be built as well.  

"The new road construction is the matte of strategic significance for Yerevan and Armenia as a whole," Mayor Marutyan said. "The capital city has four bridges today, and the fifth bridge will be built on Hrazdan River under this program. This road section will significantly ease traffic in Yerevan."

Argavand-Shirak road is a part of the western section of Yerevan's bypass road, which connects also Malatia-Sebastia and Shengavit districts.  

The cost of the contract is USD 26,003,196.22. The construction will last 21 months. -0---
