Construction of new Achapnyak Metro station in Yerevan to begin in 2024
YEREVAN, October 13. /ARKA/. Construction of a new Yerevan Metro station Achapnyak will start in 2024, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said today.
"By the end of 2023, when the design of the station will be ready we will announce and a tender for the construction of the station that should start in 2024," he said at a government meeting on Thursday.
Earlier, the Yerevan Municipality approved the release of 554 million drams to finance the design of the new Metro station. In late April, the government of Armenia released another 750 million drams to that end.
The total cost of the construction of the station is estimated at $50 million. Earlier this year, a Russian company Metrogiprotrans won a tender announced by the Yerevan Municipality for the design of the new station.
The Achapnyak Metro station is to connect this administrative district of the same name with the Barekamutyun station, significantly relieving the heavy traffic in the city.
The Yerevan Metro launched in 1981 runs on a 13.4 kilometer line and currently serves 10 active stations. -0-
