Director of Yerevan cemetery detained, charged with corruption

A director of a cemetery in Yerevan is facing a jail term from 7 to 12 years for stealing part of the money received from the relatives of a deceased person to build a repository for the latter.

YEREVAN, October 25. /ARKA/. A director of a cemetery in Yerevan is facing a jail term from 7 to 12 years for stealing part of the money received from the relatives of a deceased person to build a repository for the latter.
According to the National Security Service (NSS), the director received a total of 1,420,000 drams (about $3000) but did not register 780,000 drams of that amount by pocketing it.
The NSS said all necessary measures are being taken to disclose the entire corruption chain. The director and an employee of the cemetery were detained. The NSS asked a court to allow their arrest. ($1 - 476.48 drams). -0-
