The conference organized by European Commission in cooperation with regional organizations has gathered 100 participants.
“It is important to us that this conference is hosted by Armenia and that the region’s youth organizations will get the first information about Eastern Partnership’s youth programs, particularly The Youth Window of Eastern Partnership and The Youth in Action, exactly here,” Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan said in his address to the conference participants.
Traian Hristea, Head of EU Delegation to Armenia, on his side, said that the European Commission will do whatever necessary to strengthen cooperation with the youth in Eastern Partnership countries (Armenia, Georgia, Belarus, Ukraine, Moldova and Azerbaijan) in 2012 and 2013 by supporting official institutions’ activities and developing civil society.
He said that the youth program’s budget amounts to €3 million.
The funds earmarked for The Youth in Action program, he said, are intended for financing 1,400 additional projects with involvement of 21,000 young people.
Hristea also stressed the importance of a dialogue among representatives of states within Eastern Partnership Program saying it would strengthen democracy, stability and welfare in the region.-0---
