Former official of Cadastre Committee accused of stealing 4.5 billion drams

YEREVAN, August 23. /ARKA/. Armenia's Anticorruption Committee said today its cooperation with the Cadastre Committee in investigating a criminal case has yielded facts indicating that a crime has been committed.
In particular, a former employee of the Committee, with the assistance of a number of persons, as well as through the abuse of power and official forgery by the officials, fraudulently obtained 7 land plots with a total market value of AMD 4,5 billion, 4 of which with the preliminary consent of his close friend. Both have been charged. Arrest was chosen as a measure of restraint.
The investigation is continuing. Necessary investigative and search operations are being carried out to find out the identity of all the participants involved in the criminal scheme of stolen communal and state lands. -0-
