Government of Armenia to launch housing renovation program

The government of Armenia is preparing to launch a housing renovation program, the head of the Urban Planning Committee Vahagn Vermishyan told reporters on Monday.
YEREVAN, July 1. /ARKA/. The government of Armenia is preparing to launch a housing renovation program, the head of the Urban Planning Committee Vahagn Vermishyan told reporters on Monday.
He said a renovation scheme is currently being developed for the Achapnyak administrative district in Yerevan, encompassing a section between Halabyan, Arzumanyan, Fuchik and Shinararneri streets.
He said under the program a new quality housing stock will be built for residents of outdated buildings. He also said a construction boom is expected in Armenia in the coming years, to be driven by a new construction-related legislation which is being elaborated by the Urban Planning Committee.
He said the new legislation will allow to avoid previously made mistakes, use innovative technologies. He also noted that there is a large untapped potential in this segment that needs to be intensified, including the repair and renovation of housing stock.
According to him, the Urban Planning Committee is receiving numerous proposals for the improvement and renovation of housing stock. -0-
