YEREVAN, November 15. /ARKA/. The government of Armenia said today it will release 270 million drams for repairs and capital construction in the penitentiary institutions. The funds will be used to repair the drainage and water supply systems in Vardashen, Nubarashen and Sevan correctional facilities.
Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said it is necessary to monitor closely the quality of the repair. Acting Justice Minister Artak Zeynalyan said these prisons have not seen major repairs over the last 10 years, adding also that in the past the inmates were forced often to ‘raise funds’ for smaller repairs.
He said the ministry banned ‘fund raising’ by inmates. He said also bathrooms will be renovated first. ($ 1 - 487.96 drams). --0--
