Head of Armenia's State Revenue Committee: 133,000 citizens have already filed income tax returns
YEREVAN, October 24. /ARKA/. More than 133,000 Armenian citizens have submitted their income tax returns, with 51,000 having already received social credits, as announced by Eduard Hakobyan, Chairman of the State Revenue Committee, during a press conference on Friday.
On the same day, the Armenian Parliament approved, in its first reading, draft amendments to the income tax return procedure. These amendments will enable citizens to submit their returns without logging into the system. The system will automatically populate the citizen's data, and the return will be deemed filed.
Hakobyan mentioned that following the automatic submission of a return, the State Revenue Committee may conduct a verification of the data to ascertain if the citizen is hiding any additional income.
He further noted that if a citizen does not log into the system, fails to sign their electronic signature, and their return is filed automatically, they will not be eligible for a social credit.
Additionally, the head of the State Revenue Committee rejected the claim that the legislative initiative represents a regression, asserting that it will assist citizens and enhance the system's efficiency.
A universal income declaration system for citizens and residents has been in effect in Armenia since January 1, 2023, and is expected to be fully implemented within three years. -0-
