Investigation into a fatal road accident involving a military vehicle is completed: five servicemen have been charged
YEREVAN, 18 December. /ARKA/. Armenian Investigative Committee announced today the completion of the investigation into the road accident on 12 April 2024, which killed four servicemen and injured 18 others.
According to the Investigative Committee, from 9 to 11 April, two servicemen, identified as S.G. and H.H., informed the head of the technical department of the military unit and the head of the car service of the military unit about the technical problems of the truck, but the latter did nothing to prevent the operation of the vehicle.
In turn, V.P. and S.G. did not check the vehicle's operability at the motor depot, limiting themselves to performing only formal actions, found no faults and allowed the truck to be operated, as a result of which the vehicle ended up in a canyon because of a technical fault.
The prosecutor initiated criminal proceedings against an enlisted soldier, the head of the technical unit of the military unit, the head of the motor depot and two commanders of the military unit's rifle battalion.
On 16 December 2024, the preliminary investigation of the criminal case was completed and the indictment was sent to the military prosecutor's office of Syunik garrison. -0-
