YEREVAN, December 28. /ARKA/. One of the priorities of Armenian Ministry of Justice in 2016 will be to improve the quality of medical services at penitentiary institutions, minister Arpine Hovhannisyan said today. Speaking to a news conference she said the ministry will introduce the latest technologies at all prison hospitals.

Asked about the death of Soghomon Kocharyan, the first timer in Armenia, who was set free and died later, the minister said no one should be blamed for his death since Kocharyan had been treated for months at prison hospital.

Soghomon Kocharyan was released for health reasons on October 22 after serving 20 years in prison. He died 15 days later in a Yerevan hospital after succumbing to a number of illnesses. Kocharyan had been sentenced to life in prison in 1995 for killing an Iranian citizen. -0-
