YEREVAN, May 4. /ARKA/. The government of Armenia, taking into account the pace of the spread of coronavirus in the country, intends to amend the law on health security, Armenian Health Minister Arsen Torosyan said Monday at a meeting of the National Assembly’s standing committee on health and social issues.
"Legislative changes are needed to gave the government tools to conduct local activities, in particular local restrictions or quarantine, as well as apply a number of restrictions to ensure a controlled epidemiological situation and social security without declaring a state of emergency also when the pandemic is over," he said.
In particular, according to the minister, legislative changes will make it possible to implement isolation, self-isolation and, quarantine, not in the whole country, but only in certain settlements or certain regions.
A state of emergency in order to suppress the spread of the coronavirus operates in Armenia from March 16 to April 14. Restrictions on free movement and certain types of economic activity in Armenia in a state of emergency (previously imposed for the period from March 24 to March 31) were extended until April 12 inclusive.
On April 13, the government extended the state of emergency for another month - until 17:00 on May 14, 2020 inclusive, expanding the list of business areas that are allowed to work again.
As of 11:00 on Monday, May 4, there were 2,507 confirmed COVID-19 infection cases, 1,071 recovered patients and 39 deaths in Armenia. -0---
