YEREVAN, September 10. /ARKA/. There are now less than 3,000 active patients with the coronavirus in Armenia, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said at a regular government meeting on Thursday.

“Over the past 20 days, we have fewer than 200 (new) infections per day. This is generally an improvement, but there is another positive figure. The number of active cases has dropped significantly and currently they are less than 3,000,” he said.

The prime minister noted that an unprecedented number of tests are carried out every day, and the percentage of recorded cases of infection is low, which, according to him, indicates a high level of detection.

"The situation continues improving, and the biggest risk that could interrupt this dynamic is the opening of schools. In this context, decisions were made that are controversially accepted by the public, in particular, the requirement for children to wear masks in schools," Pashinyan said.

He noted that these measures are forced and are aimed at not returning to the period of active spread of coronavirus disease in the country.

Pashinyan noted that monitoring will be constantly carried out and if the tendency to improve the situation continues, the government will agree to remove restrictions.

According to the latest report issued Thursday morning, there are 45,326 confirmed COVID-19 cases, 906 deaths and 41,233 recovered patients in Armenia. --0--
