Measles cases in Armenia grow to 50

The number of laboratory-confirmed cases of measles has grown to  50 in Armenia as of 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 13, the health Ministry reported, saying also that 44 of the infected people were not vaccinated, four had  only one dose of vaccine and  two  both doses.

YEREVAN, March 13. /ARKA/. The number of laboratory-confirmed cases of measles has grown to 50 in Armenia as of 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 13, the health Ministry reported, saying also that 44 of the infected people were not vaccinated, four had only one dose of vaccine and two both doses.

Three of the infected people are being treated in hospitals now (the condition of one is serious), 19 were not hospitalized, 28 were discharged. Among the infected 34 were children aged from 3 months to 16 years, while the rest were adults 21-64 years old.

According to the national vaccination scheme, vaccination against measles is provided for children aged 1 year and 4-6 years.

The Ministry of Health urged parents of unvaccinated children to have their children vaccinated and reminded that persons who have been in contact with measles patients and have not received two doses of vaccination against this viral disease are also subject to vaccination. -0-
