Measures being taken to restore good relations between residents of Gyumri and Russian servicemen in Armenia - Ohanyan
YEREVAN, January 27. /ARKA/. Armenian Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan told journalists on Tuesday that measures are being taken now to preserve and improve relations between residents of Armenia’s city of Gyumri and servicemen at Russia’s military base in Gyumri and their families after the Avetisyan family murder.

“We want these relations to be as warm as they were before that,” Ohanyan said.

He added that Russia’s defense ministry condemns this crime and the matter is on the legal field now.

A family of seven, including two babies, was murdered on January 12, 2015 in Armenia’s city of Gyumri.

Valery Permyakov, a serviceman at the Russian military base, was caught by Russian border troops on the next day as he attempted to cross Armenia-Turkey border. He confessed his guilt.
Preliminary investigation into the killings was completed on October 16.

On August 12, Russian military court sentenced Permyakov to 10 years in prison for desertion with a gun, and now he is being tried by Armenian court for the murders. ---0---
