Robert Kocharyan, a former Armenian president, will be arrested on December 1, according to Zhamanak.
YEREVAN, November 29. /ARKA/. Robert Kocharyan, a former Armenian president, will be arrested on December 1, according to Zhamanak.
Kocharyan was arrested on July 27 for two months by a local court. He was charged with violating Armenia constitutional order in March 2008, when in a post-election standoff ten people were killed.
Later, he was released from custody on travel restrictions. However, the Armenian prosecutor general’s office filed recently a motion to court for authorization of a repeated arrest of Kocharyan.
The Armenian prosecutor general, who was present at yesterday’s court session, said he finds it necessary to keep Robert Kocharyan in detention at the current stage of investigation.
Prosecutor General Arthur Davtyan told journalists that the office has grounds for insisting on Kocharyan’s pretrial detention. -0---
