Minister: Armenian scientists' base salaries to grow four times by 2025

YEREVAN, January 20, . /ARKA/. Starting from January, 2022 Armenia-based scientists involved in state-funded programs will have their salaries to grow gradually four times by 2025.

The government said earlier that the goal is to provide scientists with decent salaries and create conditions for young people to get involved in scientific research.

According to Education, Science, Culture and Sports Vahram Dumanyan, the salaries will grow based on the results of certification of scientists.

“For example, a researcher who received an average of 90,400 drams, in 2025 will receive 276,000 drams. And the salary of the head of the research group from 141,400 drams will increase to 477,200 drams by 2025,” he said last year.

He noted that for this to happen in 2022 the financing of the sector will grow by 3.6 billion drams, in 2023 - by 2.2 billion drams, in 2024 - by 2.4 billion drams, and in 2025 - by 2 billion drams.

The base salaries of scientists did not change since 2010, and will double in 2022, when the budget of this sector will grow from 4 billion drams in 2021 to 7.7-7.8 billion drams in 2022 and to 14.4 billion drams in 2025.

The chief researcher today receives an average of 138,000 drams. Their salaries in 2022 will grow on average to 367,000 and in 2025 - to 553,000 drams. -0--
