YEREVAN, December 27. /ARKA/. The so-called e-health (electronic health record sharing system) will start fully functioning in Armenia in 2017 August or September, health minister Levon Altunyan told a news conference today.
According to the minister, 95% of some 500 medical institutions in Armenia have already joined the e-system with about 20 thousand health workers getting access to it. The system is connected to the police registry, which precludes registration of the same person twice in different medical institutions," -Altunyan said.
The electronic health record (eHR) is a record in electronic format containing health-related data of an individual (not confined to medical treatment for illness), stored and retrieved by different healthcare providers including doctors and other healthcare professionals for healthcare-related purposes.
Health officials say it is especially important in cases when immediate medical intervention is needed. The e-health is supposed also to enable to increase the sector’s transparency and reduce corruption risks.
A pilot eHR program was carried out successfully at medical centers in Goris, Vanadzor and Muratsan hospital in Yerevan. -0-
