New tariffs for parking on the "red lines" in Yerevan were introduced to relieve the center - explanation of the city hall

YEREVAN, June 3. /ARKA/. The idea of new tariffs for parking on the "red lines" was to try to relieve public transport in the center of Yerevan to a certain extent, said the press secretary of the capital's city hall Hayk Kostanyan at a briefing on Tuesday.
According to Kostanyan, the city authorities sought to relieve traffic in the center and make a number of changes in the public transport sector. He said that at present the work of the Yerevan city hall in this direction is not fully visible.
"In the near future, the number of dedicated bus lanes will increase. During June, a number of changes will already be made, which will lead to positive changes in the city," Kostanyan assured.
Earlier, on May 23, the Administrative Court invalidated several provisions of the Yerevan City Council of Elders' decision regarding parking fees on the "red lines" (the increased rates have been in effect since January 1, 2024); the city hall will challenge this decision.
According to Hetq news agency, the court did not agree that the city administration justified the increase in fees by improving the quality of services and the intention to relieve congestion on the roads.
