YEREVAN, March 18. / ARKA /. Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan attended today the inauguration ceremony of a new 850 million drams worth building of the Justice Academy in Yerevan.

The Academy of Justice located in Davidashen administrative district has a total area of 2,700 square meters. The construction was funded through a World Bank loan.

Justice minister Hrayr Tovmasyan said the establishment of the academy is envisaged by the judicial reforms strategy designed for 2012-2016.

According to the minister, the new Judicial Code adopted in 2007 called for establishment of judicial and prosecutorial schools, but the two schools worked independently of each other that caused some problems.

He said that was why two schools have been combined into one Academy of Justice that will  use  a single program to train judges and prosecutors to rule out different interpretations of legal norms.

"The main objectives of the Academy is to help students shape skills and expand their professional knowledge, to improve  professional knowledge and skills of working  judges, prosecutors and  court officials,"  the minister said. ($ 1 - 414.96 drams). - 0 -
