New cinema house opens in Yerevan

Armenian president Serzh Sargsyan, Yerevan mayor Taron Margaryan, culture minister Hasmik Poghosyan and a wealthy businessman Gagik Tsarukyan attended today the opening of a new cinema house in Yerevan’s Malatia-Sebastia district called "Hayastan" (Armenia)

YEREVAN, June 1. / ARKA /. Armenian president Serzh Sargsyan, Yerevan mayor Taron Margaryan, culture minister Hasmik Poghosyan and a wealthy businessman Gagik Tsarukyan attended today the opening of a new cinema house in Yerevan’s Malatia-Sebastia district called "Hayastan" (Armenia)
The new cinema is located in a building that was idle for over 20 years. Its reconstruction cost $8 million. In a couple of months it will open a music and entertainment center.
Along with the rehabilitation of the building the owner has improved the surrounding area of one hectare, having planted about 500 trees. The building and the park are provided with modern lighting.
The new cinema will host charitable programs and conduct training sessions for young filmmakers. This year it will screen the films that will be competing at "Golden Apricot" film festival. Yerevan has three other cinema houses - Moscow, Nair and Cinema Star. - 0-
