Non-cash payments made with child benefits will qualify for a 20% cashback -ministry
YEREVAN, December 1. /ARKA/. Families in Armenia with young children will also be able to receive up to 20% cashback on non-cash payments using child benefits, announced Anahit Galstyan, Head of the Department of Pensions and Other Cash Payments at the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs.
According to her, this provision will take effect on January 1, 2026.
"The monthly benefit for the third and subsequent children is 50,000 drams. For non-cash transactions made using these funds, families will be able to receive up to 20% cashback monthly, increasing the benefit amount to 60,000 drams," Galstyan noted at a press conference on Monday.
She noted that a new law standardizing the amount of lump-sum payments for the birth of children will come into effect on September 1 of next year (2026).
"Currently, 300,000 drams are provided for the birth of the first and second child, 1 million drams for the third and fourth, and 1.5 million drams for the fifth and subsequent children. For children born after September 1, 2026, the lump sum benefit will be 500,000 drams for all children," Galstyan said.
In general, according to her, the legislation will provide for four types of benefits. Four benefits will be provided for the birth of a child (instead of the current three): maternity benefits (for both mothers who worked before the birth and for those who do not work), a one-time benefit for all families, a childcare benefit for children up to 2 years old, and a new, fourth benefit of 50,000 drams per month before the child reaches 6 years old.
