YEREVAN, October 1. /ARKA/. Novosti Armenia news agency together with the Yerevan  branch of the Moscow State University (MSU) and the Russian-Armenian (Slavonic) University (RAU) has launched a Digital contest, designed specifically for students majoring in  journalism.

“The purpose of this contest is to stimulate students to create their own projects in a multimedia format with the possibility of internships and employment at the agency,” said Galina Davidyan, Director General of Novosti Armenia news agency.

“We support conducting joint projects with Armenian mass media outlets. The students of the Yerevan branch of the Moscow State University together with their professors from the Faculty of Journalism are constantly working on the creation of multimedia materials in various disciplines. We believe that this is a good opportunity for future journalists to put into practice their theoretical skills,” said Zhan Bagyan, the Deputy Executive Director for Academic Affairs of the Yerevan branch of the Moscow State University.

“One cannot imagine modern journalism  now without multimedia technologies. The universality of this profession  has become not just a beautiful term from textbooks; it is a daily practice. Therefore, for future specialists in the field of media this contest is really important; the theoretical knowledge acquired at the university can be mastered in practice, students will also be able to acquire new skills and competencies. In addition, this is a great opportunity to work together as a team and communicate with leading experts in the field,” said Marina Alekyan, head of the Department of Journalism at the Russian Armenian (Slavonic) University.

Students' papers should contain relevant and useful information about gastronomic delights, traditions, as well as tourist destinations of Armenia. The task of the contest  is to acquaint readers with the amazing gastronomic world full of surprises, secrets, legends and stories.

The three best papers will be published on foodandwine.newsarmenia.am. Winners will receive prizes, and the student who takes the 1st place will be awarded an internship at the agency.

The new special project Food & Wine, which the Novosti Armenia news agency launched in July, is not limited only to Armenia. It is about the cuisines, as well as the gastronomic traditions of different countries.
