YEREVAN, January 22. /ARKA/. Armenia's capital city Yerevan lacks enough emergency ambulance crews, head of the Ambulance Service Ruben Grigoryan said on Friday.

According to available criteria, there should be one ambulance crew for every 20,000 residents of the city.

Accordingly, there should be 53-55 crews for Yerevan which has 1 million 75,000 residents, Grigoryan said at a working meeting at the capital's City Hall on Monday. He said 43 ambulance crews are currently working in the capital.

"We have appealed to the Health Minister with a request to increase the number of ambulance crews. It is also planned to start using mopeds for first aid delivery only in the near future," he said.

Grigoryan said the ambulance service received 19,595 calls from January 1 to 18. Medics were late for 1,829 calls (9.5%). -0-
