One killed and two wounded in HSBC Bank Armenia attack

An employee of the HSBC Bank Armenia in Yerevan was killed and another one wounded by a man who broke into the bank’s branch on Komitas Avenue at about 2:25 pm today, armed with a knife, a grenade, and a gun, the police reported.
YEREVAN, May 3. / ARKA /. An employee of the HSBC Bank Armenia in Yerevan was killed and another one wounded by a man who broke into the bank’s branch on Komitas Avenue at about 2:25 pm today, armed with a knife, a grenade, and a gun, the police reported.
A spokesman for police, Ashot Aharonyan, said the attacker stole money and tried to escape, but did not succeed.
He said the police rapid response group immediately arrived at the scene surrounding the robber, who showed resistance, wounding one of the policemen, but was quickly rendered harmless and taken to the police. He said the circumstances of the attack are being investigated.
According to Edgar Janoyan, a senior official at HSBC Bank Armenia, the attacker is a traffic police colonel Daniel Danielyan. -0-
