Only 2% of Armenia’s population vaccinated
YEREVAN, July 2. /ARKA/. Only 2% of Armenia’s population are fully vaccinated against Covid-19 as of July 2, 2021, Anzhela Kzhdryan, advisor on risk management and public relations of the WHO office in Armenia, said in a Facebook post.
She said Armenia’s figure is comparable with Afghanistan and Kyrgyzstan, while in Tajikistan and Turkmenistan even less than 1% of the population are fully vaccinated as of now.
According to her, the highest Covid-19 vaccination rates are in Canada - 67%, Hungary - 56%, USA - 53%, Germany - 52%, China - 43%. In Russia, 14% of the population are vaccinated. Among the post-Soviet countries, the highest vaccination rate are in Azerbaijan - 20% and Kazakhstan - 15%. In Armenia’s neighboring Iran - 5% of the population are vaccinated.
Vaccination in Armenia is free of charge in clinics on all days of the week. There are also mobile vaccination points deployed in public places in Yerevan - on Northern Avenue, in the shopping centers Dalma Garden Mall and Megamall, also in Gyumri on Vardanants Square, in Vanadzor on Hayk Square and in Dilijan next to the mayor's office. Foreign citizens living in Armenia can also be vaccinated.
Armenian health authorities are using three types of vaccines: Sputnik-V (Russia), AstraZeneca (Britain) and CoronaVac / Sinovac (China). The government’s objective is to have between 600,000 and 700,000 people vaccinated within a year. -0-
