Pashinyan: Armenia must give up second hand as humanitarian aid

YEREVAN, December 19. /ARKA/. During a government meeting, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that legislative changes must be introduced to stop sending aid in the form of used goods to Armenia.

"We must pass a law to ensure that Armenia stops being the primary destination for the export of second-hand goods. This is unacceptable and directly contradicts the logic and concept we are implementing. I am against receiving such aid. Even if it has already arrived at customs in Armenia, that's fine; let them return it. There are many countries in the world that need such aid, and it is not a problem for them to accept these goods. Let these used, worn-out, half-broken items be sent to those who need them. Such goods should not be sent to Armenia," he said.

According to the National Statistical Committee of the country, from January to September 2024, Armenia received 1,145.2 tons of humanitarian aid worth 31,513.3 million drams ($79,624.6 thousand).
