Pashinyan: Salary received from abroad over 12 million drams must be declared

YEREVAN, 23 January. /ARKA/. The salary received by Armenian citizens abroad will have to be indicated in the tax declaration if it exceeds AMD 12 million a year, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said Wednesday.

‘We had the following regulation. If a person worked in another country, received a salary there, we used to talk about checks only- whether he paid income tax or not. Then we decided that if a person worked in another country, it's another country's problem. Our presumption is that he has paid income tax. Consequently, the salary received abroad by labour migrants is also not subject to taxation, but there is a limit there - 12 million drams,’ Pashinyan said in parliament.

He noted that he was referring to the amount received per year. ‘What is less than 12 million drams is not declared, what is above 12 million drams must be declared,’ he explained.

At the same time, Pashinyan pointed out that private money transfers from abroad up to 300 thousand drams are not declared, and  larger amounts  will have to be declared, but without tax obligations. He specified that it is about a lump sum of 300 thousand drams, and not several separate transactions for this amount in aggregate. ($1 - 398.74 drams)
