Pensions in Armenia to rise by 10 percent starting 2020

Old-age and retirement pensions as well as other government-paid allowances will increase in Armenia starting 2020, Labor and Social Affairs Minister Zaruhi Batoyan said during a government meeting on Thursday.

YEREVAN, December 26. /ARKA/. Old-age and retirement pensions as well as other government-paid allowances will increase in Armenia starting 2020, Labor and Social Affairs Minister Zaruhi Batoyan said during a government meeting on Thursday.
She said the pensions will be raised on average by 10 percent. 'Under the revised law, the basic pension amount will be 18 thousand drams, up from the current 16 thousand drams. Also, the payment for the first ten years of a pensioner's seniority will be raised from 800 drams to 950 drams for each year.
She also said the disability pension for ordinary conscripts will increase to 40 thousand drams from the current 36 thousand drams.
According to the minister, the size of allowance paid to the family in case of loss of the breadwinner will be raised from 25.5 thousand drams to 27 thousand drams, and the size of allowance paid to orphans will be upped from 80 thousand drams to 90 thousand drams.
Also the minimum pension for those who has less than 10 year of registered seniority will be brought up to 27 thousand drams from the current 25.5 thousand drams. As a result, the budget allocations for pensions and allowances will rise by 3.4 billion drams. -0-
