Permanent driving of cars with foreign license plates will be restricted in Armenia –SRC

YEREVAN, September 8. /ARKA/.. Permanent driving of cars with foreign license plates will be restricted in Armenia, Chairman of the State Revenue Committee (SRC) Rustam Badasyan said on Friday.
He said this principled position is in line with the rules established for the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) member countries and also in line with the principle of equality of all before law.
'A citizen A buys a car paying all customs duties and VAT, and at the same time, another citizen B imports a car (largely from the neighboring Georgia) without any payments. It's wrong to allow such inequality against bona fide buyers," Badasyan told reporters.
He said that cars of Georgian citizens who come to Armenia for recreation or business will not be subjected to customs clearance.
"But if a car with Georgian license plates is imported in order to drive it on a permanent basis in Armenia, it becomes unclear why other car buyers have to pay taxes and while the former don't," Badasyan specified.
According to him, a decision on this issue will be made, but not immediately, so that it does not become a surprise. --0--
