"Popularity" of Russian passports drops among Armenian citizens

Nearly 33,000 Armenian citizens were granted Russian citizenship in the first nine months of this year, by 1,400 less than in the same time span of 2021, Russian news agency TASS reported citing the Russian Interior Ministry's statistics.
YEREVAN, November 24. /ARKA/. Nearly 33,000 Armenian citizens were granted Russian citizenship in the first nine months of this year, by 1,400 less than in the same time span of 2021, Russian news agency TASS reported citing the Russian Interior Ministry's statistics.
In total, during the first nine months of this year, almost 550 thousand foreigners received Russian citizenship, which is by 7 thousand less than during the same period last year.
Most of the new naturalized Russian citizens were from Ukraine (more than 260 thousand, by 32 thousand less than a year before). Also, 120,000 citizens of Tajikistan were granted Russian citizenship, a nearly twofold increase from the year ago.-0-
