Armenia’s President Serzh Sargsyan announced on Saturday a new large-scale educational program in the second biggest city of the country, Giumry.
YEREVAN, September 16. /ARKA/. Armenia’s President Serzh Sargsyan announced on Saturday a new large-scale educational program in the second biggest city of the country, Giumry.
The program entitled National Education Excellence is implemented by Armenia’s Ministry of Science and Education, Ayb Educational Foundation, Cambridge University and the London Institute of Education, Sargsyan said at the opening of a technology center in Giumry on Saturday.
The aim of the program is to praise the role of teachers in the modern society and make the profession more attractive, the president said.
Under the program, about 2,000 teachers are expected to obtain international certification over 10 years to initiate changes and to apply new approaches in schools.
An extensive resource center to be set up under the program will help teachers use best international experience, the president said.
Consistent improvements in education are a priority not only for public agencies, but for the society as a whole, the president said.
According to the president, the entire society should realize the importance of education improvements to ensure success. Public discussions will be held to ensure the program is demanded and the society is ready to contribute to it, Sargsyan said. –0--
