Prosecutor General: Armenia intends to bring assets illegally taken out of country back

Armenia intends to start seizing illegally acquired property and working out institutional mechanisms for bringing the assets taken from the country back, Armenian Prosecutor General Arthur Davtyan said Tuesday as he met with Sergey Kopirkin, Russian ambassador to Armenia, the press office of the prosecutor general’s office reports.

YEREVAN, June 26. /ARKA/. Armenia intends to start seizing illegally acquired property and working out institutional mechanisms for bringing the assets taken from the country back, Armenian Prosecutor General Arthur Davtyan said Tuesday as he met with Sergey Kopirkin, Russian ambassador to Armenia, the press office of the prosecutor general’s office reports.

Davtyan said this will enhance significantly the effectiveness of investigations into corruption and illegal enrichment cases.  

The prosecutor general said that everything necessary will be done to take advantage from international cooperation in an effort to return the assets illegally taken out of Armenia. 

At their meeting, the parties discussed how to enhance effectiveness of cooperation between Armenia and Russia in the legal area. 

Speaking about the judicial system reform being implemented in Armenia, Davtyan stressed its importance and presented the prosecutor general office’s approaches to the Russian ambassador. 

The sides exchanged opinions over corruption and the struggle against corruption in Armenia. -0---
