Protesters intrude into Yerevan municipality building demanding mayor’s resignation

Mayor of Yerevan Taron Margaryan had a telephone conversation with the head of the Armenian police Valery Osipyan asking him to remove a group pf protesters from the municipality building.
YEREVAN, May 16. /ARKA/. Mayor of Yerevan Taron Margaryan had a telephone conversation with the head of the Armenian police Valery Osipyan asking him to remove a group pf protesters from the municipality building.
The municipality said Osipyan is negotiating with protesters trying to persuade them to walk out of the building.
Activists on Wednesday destroyed the fences around a public park not far from the municipality, which is under a major reconstruction in protest against logging of trees there then broke into the building of the municipality demanding the resignation of the mayor.
In the meantime taxi drivers have blocked part of the central Baghramyan Avenue in front of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s residence demanding that traffic police annul all fines imposed on them for traffic offences. -0-
