Record heat in 67 years expected in Armenia

YEREVAN, April 2. /ARKA/. Armenia’s Center for Hydrometeorology and Monitoring has predicted dry weather across the country on April 2-4 and April 5 overnight, saying also that light rains are expected on April 5 afternoon and April 6.
Southwest wind will be blowing with gusts up to 2-5 m/s; on April 3-6 in some places the wind is expected to increase to 18-23 m/s.
The temperatures on April 2-3 will gradually rise by 7-8 degrees. In Yerevan, on April 2-6, gusty winds up to 14-16 m/s are also expected.
On Saturday afternoon, the temperature in the capital will warm up to 23-25 degrees Celsius. The highest temperature on this day was recorded in 1955, when the temperature in Yerevan rose to 25.5 degrees.
On Sunday, the temperature in the capital will warm up to 25-27 degrees, and by Wednesday it will drop to 16-18 degrees.
The highest temperatures are expected on Sunday afternoon in the Syunik valleys, where the thermometer will reach 29-34 degrees. In Tavush and Ararat regions, as well as in the foothills of Vayots Dzor, the temperatures will go up to 26-30 degrees, and 26-29 degrees in Armavir region.
