Remote communities in Armenia to get more funding from government’s subsidy fund

YEREVAN, November 14. /ARKA/. The remote communities in Armenia will be eligible to additional funding from the government’s subsidy fund, according to a set of amendments to the Law on Financial Equalization.
The proposed changes were presented today to parliament for consideration in the first reading by Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Vache Terteryan, who said the changes are meant to revise the way communities in the country are financed.
According to the changes, additional AMD 5 million will be allocated to each border settlement which is part of a remote community.
Terteryan also noted that the structure of the communities has also changed as a result of the enlargement process. The amendments calls for categorizing communities by the number of residents.
First category- from o to 3,500 residents; second category—from 3,500 to 20,000 people; third category—from 20,000 to 50,000 people and fourth category- from 50,000 to 200,000 people
The deputy minister said also that 50 million drams will be allocated for the communities with less than 3,500 people. -0-
