Russian authorities to extradite former member of Armenian parliament

The Office of Russia’s Prosecutor General decided to satisfy the request of Armenian peers to extradite an ex Armenian parliament member Levon Sargsyan, Gor Abrahamyan, an adviser to the Prosecutor General of Armenia, said in a Facebook post.
YEREVAN, March 20. /ARKA/. The Office of Russia’s Prosecutor General decided to satisfy the request of Armenian peers to extradite an ex Armenian parliament member Levon Sargsyan, Gor Abrahamyan, an adviser to the Prosecutor General of Armenia, said in a Facebook post.
He said Armenia’s Prosecutor General’s Office asked the Armenian police to organize the transportation of Sargsyan to Armenia.
Armenian Police reported earlier that Levon Sargsyan (born in 1968) was arrested on November 21, 2019 in the town of Zelenograd, Moscow Region. According to Armenian police, his arrest was the result of “large-scale” joint investigative actions taken by Russian and Armenian law-enforcement bodies.
In Armenia, Sargsyan was put on the wanted list as part of a criminal case instituted on the grounds of clauses 1-2 of part 3 of Article 175 of the Criminal Code (armed robbery committed by an organized group) and part 2 of Article 223 (involvement in the criminal community).
Levon Sargsyan, better known under his nickname “Alraghatsi Lyov,” was an Armenian parliament member from 1999-2012. In 2007 -2012 he represented former president Serzh Sargsyan’s Republican Party of Armenia (HHK) in the National Assembly.-0-
