Russian Channel One resumes broadcast in Armenia
YEREVAN, 31 May. /ARKA/. The broadcast of Russia’s Channel One was resumed in Armenia, the country’s Minister of High Tech Industry Mkhitar Hayrapetyan reported on Friday.
The channel’s broadcast was interrupted on 27 May due to a 2.5 million AMD debt to Armenia’s authorities. “Channel One paid its debt in full the next day, so its broadcast was resumed in Armenia,” Hayrapetyan revealed, adding that all TV channels, be it Russian or Armenian, must abide by their financial obligations.
The Ministry of Tech Industry reported earlier that Russia had violated a TV broadcasting cooperation agreement between the two countries. The agreement prohibits broadcasting TV programmes that may be offensive to either of the two countries or peoples, a violation that Russia acknowledged.
