School educators in Armenia may receive 300,000 dram salary
YEREVAN, April 28. /ARKA/. The Armenian government approved today a decision to set up a commission that will deal with raising salaries of those school educators, who will pass a voluntary exam to acquire a teaching certification.
Education, Culture, Science and Sports Minister Vahram Dumanyan said school teachers who passed a voluntary exam last year and acquired teaching certification had their salaries raised by 30-50%. However, he added that since the average salary of teachers is 125 thousand drams, even a 50% rise did not make it competitive.
"In this regard, changes were made to the decision and now the teachers who pass exam and acquire certification will have their salaries raised to 200 thousand drams and besides they can also receive an additional 30-50% bonus," Dumanyan said.
He noted that the main goal is to have high quality teaching staff. Last year 478 teachers passed voluntary exam to acquire teaching certification.-0-
