Some 188 schoolteachers from Nagorno-Karabakh employed by Armenian schools
YEREVAN, December 13. /ARKA/. Some 200 schoolteachers, displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh, have applied for work in Armenia so far, and 188 of them have already been employed by state-run educational institutions, Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Araksia Svajyan said on Tuesday.
She said these teachers are having retraining courses to meet the new standards with the support of the World Bank.
She also recalled that teachers working in regional schools will receive a 30% bonus, while teachers working in Syunik and Vayots Dzor marzes (provinces), Chambarak and Vardenis communities of Gegharkunik marz, Noyemberyan, Ijevan and Berd communities of Tavush marz will receive AMD 50 thousand in addition to the 30% bonus.
Also, 1,231 school students from Nagorno-Karabakh have been enrolled by primary and secondary vocational educational institutions, and 1,844 university students by Armenia-based ones, Araksia Svajyan said.
She also stressed that in the coming days the government will approve a scheme to compensate the tuition fee for students who studied in Armenian educational institutions before September 19, 2023 Azerbaijani offensive.
These students are those whose tuition fees were paid for by the government of the Nagorno-Karabakh and those whose tuition fees were paid by their parents. The latter are currently experiencing certain financial difficulties. -0-
