Some 1,100 people in Yerevan under home quarantine

Some 1,100 residents in the Armenian capital Yerevan are now under home quarantine because of the coronavirus outbreak, the press service of the municipality reported.

YEREVAN, April 8. /ARKA/. Some 1,100 residents in the Armenian capital Yerevan are now under home quarantine because of the coronavirus outbreak, the press service of the municipality reported. It said since the introduction of the state of emergency on March 16, some 2,597 citizens were placed under home quarantine and 1,497 of them have been taken out of it.

"Since the start of state of emergency 125  people who were under surveillance were sent to the Nork infectious diseases hospital, 65 of them were confirmed to have  coronavirus," said Gayane Antonyan, deputy head of the health department of the city hall.

 She said the ambulance service delivered 1,299 citizens to the Nork infectious diseases hospital.
When entering the city polyclinics, citizens have their temperature measured on-site and people with symptoms of coronavirus are sent to the isolation ward.

 Also, more than 130 million drams (about $262,000) will be provided as bonuses to employees of Yerevan medical institutions, who are fighting against the coronavirus. The money will be allocated from the March payments of all employees of the city hall and administrative districts of Yerevan.

 The city hall has acquired 50 thousand medical masks, 17 thousand gowns, 45 thousand gloves and disinfectant solutions for medical facilities. It also provided the medical staff with buses to travel to work and home.

 Armenia declared a 30-day state of emergency on March 16 to stop the spread of coronavirus. Later, it imposed stringent restrictions on the movement of people and banned also some types of economic activity until April 12 inclusive. As of April 8, 881 confirmed cases of coronavirus were recorded in Armenia, 114 patients were said to have recovered and nine people, all with pre-existing health conditions, died. -0-
