Some 1.5 billion drams worth damage caused to Armenian environment in 2019

Armenia's Environment and Subsoil Protection Inspectorate estimated the damage caused to the environment during 2019 at about 1.5 billion drams.

YEREVAN, February 21. /ARKA/. Armenia's Environment and Subsoil Protection Inspectorate estimated the damage caused to the environment during 2019 at about 1.5 billion drams.
The Environment Ministry said in 2019 its employees discovered 1,863 violations of the nature protection law and 914 people were subjected to administrative penalties. Also 814 cases were sent to law enforcement agencies and 512.3 million drams worth damage was recovered.
Based on the government decision, a general description of the methodology of inspections based on risk assessment carried out by the Inspectorate was approved, the inspection checklists were amended, and the impact of economic activity on water resources was assessed.
During 2019, the Inspectorate also received a portable ultrasonic flowmeter, which will more accurately calculate the amount of water consumed by economic entities and water supply operators. ($ 1 - 478.35 dram). --0--
