Stem cells research lab opens in Armenia
YEREVAN, November 9, /ARKA/. Armenia’s president Serzh Sargsyan and Mrs. Rita Sargsyan attended November 8 the opening ceremony of the R. Yeolyan Hematology Medical Center.

Accompanied by the heads of the leading medical institutions of the country, mayor of Yerevan, minister of health care, head of the World Bank Yerevan office and other guests, president Sargsyan and Mrs. Sargsyan toured the premise of the only leading medical center in Armenia specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of the hematological diseases, familiarized with the works, conditions created to provide high quality services, and conversed with the administration and medical staff of the Center on the ongoing activities of the Center and future programs, Sargsyan’s press office reported. 

It said the responsible officials of the Center said that the structure of the modernized Hematology Center comprises a regional bone morrow transplant department and a laboratory for the stem cells research. 

Considering the exceptional importance of the Center particularly for the treatment of the children with blood cancer, the program has been implemented thanks to the commitment and efforts of Mrs. Rita Sargsyan – the Honorary Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the Donate Life Charity Fund. The seven-story building of the Center has been totally renovated and a new three-story unit has been added. The modernization work has been carried out by the RA Ministry of Health Care through the financing of the Government and the World Bank. 

The newly opened medical Center will allow to provide state-of-the-art, high quality and affordable medical services. The Center is equipped with all necessary modern facilities, the major part of which is exceptional in its significance and are unique for Armenia.

Thanks to the installed automated systems, the spectrum of the provided services will expand dramatically. The policy of competitive prices will allow the Center to provide the services also available to the patients from abroad. -0-
