YEREVAN, April 3. /ARKA/. Political parties and NGOs should pursue the objective of application of the Constitutional Court ruling on the pension law in practice, head of the Armenian National Congress parliament faction Levon Zurabyan said.
On Wednesday April 2 Armenia’s Constitutional Court declared a number of provisions of the new funded pension plan law conflicting with the country’s constitution and, hence invalid. The Court set September 30 as the deadline for harmonizing the funded pension legislation with its decision. All payments to pension funds charged under the new funded pension law before the ruling must be refunded.
Zurabyan said no reasons for euthoria exist as the funded pension law will be in force until September 30.
The Constitutional Court ruling is a formal victory only and efforts should be made to ensure the law is repealed in practice, Zurabyan said. –0--
