YEREVAN, December 23. /ARKA/. The results of the revised technical specifications for the project to build the new 12th station of the Yerevan Metro, "Surmalu," will be presented this week, said Anneta Babayan, advisor to the capital's mayor.
"The technical specifications have already been revised. Today, the information will be provided to the members of the special group, and this week the results will be summarized and presented to the Municipality's Procurement Department for the announcement of a tender," Babayan said at a working meeting of the municipality on Monday.
In turn, Mayor Tigran Avinyan said that the design work for the construction of the “Surmalu” station will be funded by the municipality. The amount allocated for this in the 2025 community budget is 400 million drams (approximately $1 million).
"We need to continue collaborating with our partners from the government and international organizations to determine the funds that will be used for the construction work in the future," Avinyan said.
About the Surmalu Station
At the moment, the exact location of the 12th Surmalu Metro station is not clear. It is assumed that it will be situated between the two existing metro stations, Sasuntsi David and Zoravar Andranik, providing access to two shopping centers, Surmalu and Petak, as well as Sevan Street via an alternative urban transport route. This will help alleviate traffic congestion in the area.
