YEREVAN, August 29. / ARKA /. Armenian road police officers will be visiting schools throughout the country for one month beginning from September 1 when the schooling year begins to teach road safety rules, Norik Sargsyan, chief of road and patrol service of Armenia's road police, said to a news conference today.
Sargsyan said police officers will be meeting also with parents of schoolchildren and will distribute special booklets with instructive games to help children learn the rules of the road.
He said starting with the first of September road police officers will be watching children crossing streets near schools every working day from 8:00 am to 9:30 am and from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.
"We have checked sections of roads, located close to schools, putting up new road signs and refreshing road markings,” he said.
“Attitudes to road safety are formed at a young age and we would urge parents and teachers to continue to prioritise teaching our youngest and most vulnerable road-users how to stay safe on the roads,” he said.-0-
