YEREVAN, October 6. /ARKA/. Twelve new medical centers are under construction in Armenia now, Health Minister Anahit Avanesyan said at a press briefing today.

She said next year's budget earmarks funds for improving the outpatient medical centers. Next year, she said, about 20 rural outpatient clinics will be renovated and re-equipped.
The minister said also that the number of confirmed cases of coronavirus are declining after a recent surge.

"The virus is not disappearing. According to all our forecasts, it will not disappear from now on, but will become an endemic disease and will have periods of activation during the year," she said.

She stressed that today a Pfizer vaccine is available for vaccination against COVID-19

"In the process (of vaccination) some drugs are running out, new ones are coming in. We are not currently tasked with providing all types of vaccines, as there is no need to do so. The main thing is vaccine availability, which is secured," she noted.

From September 26 to October 2, some 910 new cases of coronavirus were recorded, down from 1,431 cases recorded a week earlier. During that week, 8 people died from COVID-19 (compared to 4 in the previous week).

Overall,  443,785 cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in Armenia and 431,560 of those infected had recovered. The death toll stands now at 8,691 --0-
