Two prisons in Armenia to be completely reconstructed, minister says

Armenia’s acting Justice Minister Artak Zeynalyan said on Saturday that at least two criminal correctional institutions in Armenia, namely “Nubarashen” and “Goris”, must be completely reconstructed.
YEREVAN, November 3. /ARKA/. Armenia’s acting Justice Minister Artak Zeynalyan said on Saturday that at least two criminal correctional institutions in Armenia, namely “Nubarashen” and “Goris”, must be completely reconstructed.
He said the government was considering a draft decision on the the release of funds from its Reserve Fund for this purpose. He said the government wanted to earmark one billion drams in the 2019 draft budget for construction of a new prison in Goris with the estimated cost of 4 billion drams, but due to budget constraints, these amounts were not yet included in the draft budget.
Zeynalyan said repair work is being carried out in many correctional facilities He said also the ministry was considering the use of electronic ankle bracelets to reduce the number of persons under preliminary arrest. He said this will require about $300 thousand. -0-
