YEREVAN, April 29. /ARKA/. The Armenian government has made vaccination against COVID-19 as easy as possible, Acting Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan told a Cabinet meeting today.

She added that the vaccines are available to all citizens who have reached the age of 18 and besides, citizens can go to any clinic, regardless of their place of registration, and get vaccinated.

According to the Minister, from next week mobile teams will operate in different districts of the capital.

"Vaccination is the only way to end mortality from COVID-19 and its subsequent waves. Vaccines in Armenia 100% protect against the severe and very severe course of the disease, as well as its consequences," she added.

She pointed out that the risk from the consequences of vaccination is practically zero in comparison with the consequences of the disease. She noted that in Israel and the UK, where the number of vaccinated is 50%, the incidence rate has dropped sharply.

Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan also stressed the importance of vaccination and assured that the government would not have allowed the use of a vaccine, which would threaten the lives of Armenian citizens.

“At the moment there are AstraZeneca and Sputnik V vaccines in Armenia, and a Chinese vaccine is expected to be delivered in the near future," Pashinyan said.

According to Pashinyan, the number of vaccinated people in the country is a "quality mark of the state" in every sense.

“Today only 2,690 people have been vaccinated in our country. These are shameful numbers,” Pashinyan said.

The head of government pointed out that vaccination is important both for the development of tourism and travel opportunities, and for business in general.

“If we don’t have good data on vaccination rates, then our tourism this year may again face big problems. Business and all government agencies should be involved in this. We need to get vaccinated ourselves first and set an example for everyone," Pashinyan said, urging everyone present in the meeting to be vaccinated within one week.
